The Pensions Trust Launches New DC Website for the Social Housing Pension Scheme

Issued on: 1 September 2010

• Developed as an interactive and informative tool for members, prospective members and employers
• Forums for HR representatives in SHPS are being held nationwide throughout September 2010

The Pensions Trust, the leading multi-employer occupational pension fund in the UK for the Third Sector, announces the launch of a new DC website for the Social Housing Pension Scheme (SHPS) DC structure.

The new web only administration is a radical move away from the current platforms and has been developed as an interactive and informative tool for SHPS members, prospective members and employers.* It includes information on the Scheme, calculators, animations and instructions for members and employers regarding the DC membership journey. It also includes links to all the relevant forms and to other sources of DC education material provided by organisations such as The Pensions Regulator.

Forums for HR representatives in SHPS are being held nationwide throughout September 2010 to launch the new DC structure.** To date 142 employers out of the 208*** who have opted to offer this new DC arrangement to their staff are attending one of these events. Over 300 people are expected to attend the Forums.

Colin Small, Chair of the SHPS Pensions Committee said: “Launching the new DC website means that members and employers now have access to a much wider range of tools and services which will help them manage and understand their pension more effectively. Over 3,000 new members enrolled into SHPS in the year to 30 June 2010 and we expect this growth to continue with the introduction of the DC structure from October 2010. The development of this website continues to reflect our commitment to members, and helps further position the Scheme at the forefront of pension schemes for the social housing sector.”

Logan Anderson, Head of Customer Relations at The Pensions Trust, said: “At The Pensions Trust, we want to be at the forefront of providing the highest level of expertise and support to both existing and future scheme members and the launch of the new SHPS DC website is a further example of this pledge. We also hope the website will have an educational element by offering greater information about pensions and retirement.”

*The Employer Area will be launched on 3 September 2010.
**Forums being held in the following places at the following times:
8 September Leeds
9 September Leicester
