Issued on: 20 April 2010
The Pensions Trust, has recently achieved the esteemed title of Investors in People Champion in acknowledgment of their true commitment to improving performance through people.
With less than 45 Champions nationally, The Pensions Trust joins a prestigious group of role model organisations all of which promote and champion Investors in People through best practice activities.
Based in Leeds and an Investors in People organisation since 2004, The Pensions Trust is one of the leading multi-employer occupational pension funds in the UK for the charitable, social, educational, voluntary and not-for-profit sectors.
Established in 1946 and currently employing around 160 members of staff, the Trust is looking to use their new Champion status to facilitate two-way learning, helping to encourage both themselves and other organisations in the region to be at the cutting edge of good people management practice.
Commenting on their achievement, Stephen Nichols, Chief Executive of The Pensions Trust said: “We are delighted to have been awarded two prestigious Investors in People titles within the first few months of 2010. Receiving the Gold Standard in January was a fantastic achievement for The Pensions Trust. And, with the recognition that the Trust has been awarded with the Champion status we look forward to sharing our best practices with other organisations”.
To become an Investors in People Champion all applicants to the programme must hold Investors in People Gold recognition, an accolade the Trust achieved in December 2009.
The Champions scheme recognises and rewards organisations who have been outstanding in promoting the values and principles of Investors in People, leading by example in the way they manage and develop their people.
By achieving Champion status, The Pensions Trust is committed to sharing and also learning from their experiences, encouraging the dissemination of good practice in people management and supporting continuous improvement.
Carole Reid, Chief Executive of the Investors in People Centre for Yorkshire & Humber said: “Achieving Investors in People Gold and Champion status recognises that an organisation is truly world class in how they lead, manage and develop their people. We are looking forward to working with The Pensions Trust as one of the four current Investors in People Champions in the Yorkshire and Humber Region. Having met many of their people I am sure that they will wholeheartedly embrace this new role; showing the same high levels of commitment and enthusiasm they show when dealing with The Pensions Trust’s clients.”
