Chief Executive Celebrates 25 Years at The Pensions Trust

Issued: 21 November 2003

Richard Stroud, Chief Executive of The Pensions Trust celebrates 25 years with the organisation this month.

Throughout Richard's career at The Pensions Trust he has seen momentous changes. When Richard commenced his employment, in 1978, the Trust was called the Social Workers’ Pensions Fund, had 9,000 members, a fund value of £29 million, employed only 16 staff and provided 1 final salary pension scheme. 25 years later The Pensions Trust has over 106,000 members, manages net assets of almost £2 billion, employs over 150 staff and provides a wide range of pension packages, including a money purchase plan, stand alone final salary and centralised final salary schemes and CARE an innovative career average revalued earnings scheme.

To celebrate Richard's quarter of a century at The Pensions Trust staff presented him with cards and cakes and the Trustees organised a special dinner to commemorate his service. These presentations were linked to Richard’s Open Forums, an event where he informs staff of past results and future aims.

As The Pensions Trust has office locations in Edinburgh, Leeds and London Richard was fortunate to have celebrations at all three venues.

Richard was extremely touched and said "the recognition of my 25 years by fellow colleagues has meant a great deal and I am delighted that employees of The Pensions Trust have been able to share this significant landmark with me."

Andrew Cooke, Chair of the Trust, and the rest of the Trustee board presented Richard with a gift in recognition of his service to The Pensions Trust members over the past 25 years. He stated, "Richard has been instrumental in developing the Trust into what we are today and ensuring that our members have a better retirement than most."
