Social Housing Pension Scheme membership hits 59,000

The Social Housing Pension Scheme (SHPS) today announced its membership has reached a new high of 59,000.
Colin Small, Chair of the SHPS Pensions Committee commented, "Unlike many defined benefit pension schemes, SHPS is open to new employers and members and hitting this benchmark demonstrates the continued commitment of employers to the Scheme. Over 2,800 new members enrolled into SHPS in the year to 30 September 2008 and the Scheme has almost 25,000 active members. This reflects both the continued employer commitment and the value that staff in the social housing sector place on SHPS membership."
